At Loving Hand Elgin we create an ambitious and progressive curriculum which is preparing children for the next stage.

In our nursery with three staged rooms : baby, toddler and preschool, the curriculum is designed as a coherent, ambitious and inclusive continuation. It clearly sets out what children need to know and be able to do at each stage, carefully sequencing learning so that knowledge and skills build incrementally from secure attachment, sensory exploration and early communication in the baby room, through growing independence, physical development and language expansion in the toddler room, to more complex thinking, social understanding and early literacy and mathematics in preschool, preparing children confidently for school. Across all rooms, practitioners prioritise communication and language as the foundation for all seven areas of learning, modelling rich vocabulary, responsive interactions and high-quality storytelling. The curriculum is adapted to meet the needs of all children, including those with SEND, disadvantaged children and those facing barriers to learning, through targeted support, early identification and close partnership with families and external professionals. Teaching is intentional and responsive, with practitioners presenting learning clearly, checking understanding through observation and quality interaction, and adapting activities to ensure every child can make progress and succeeds.
